The Class of 2021 Graduation is planned for Sunday, May 16 at 4:00 pm in the Stormont-Vail Events Center.

The practice graduation and checkout/cookout is planned for Friday, May 14.

During practice graduation and checkout, students will receive their cumulative K-12 school file, a commemorative 2021 graduate yard sign, and will have the opportunity to take care of any financial obligations or holds. Students will receive diploma covers at the ceremony. Diplomas may be picked up at SHS May 24th - May 28th from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Seaman School District will ask graduation guests to follow the Stormont Vail Event Center guidance, which follows the Shawnee County Health Officer recommendations. Those recommendations have been updated and are provided below.

USD 345 faculty and students participating in the graduation ceremony will continue to wear masks.


The health and well-being of our students, families, and the community is our top priority. Health and Safety protocols for the practice graduation and graduation ceremony are listed below and may be updated prior to the ceremony.
  • Speakers will not need a mask while speaking.
  • Students may remove their masks to walk the stage and have their pictures taken by a professional photographer. The event will also be live-streamed and recorded.
  • Disinfecting of Landon Arena touch points will occur between graduations.
  • Students will enter Domer Arena (the building Southwest of Landon Arena. Use the Southeast entrance) at 3:00 pm to prepare for the ceremony. Enter with your gown in hand prior to security wanding.
  • Families and guests (currently no limit on numbers) may enter Landon Arena after 3:15 pm from the 2nd level south entrance or the lower level southeast entrance (handicapped accessible) and will be ushered to the second level seating area. As a precautionary measure, family groups should social distance from other family groups and spread out in the seating areas throughout the Arena.
  • At the conclusion of the ceremony, graduates and guests are requested to exit in a staggered fashion to ensure social distancing and to avoid bottlenecks at the exits. Gatherings outside of the arena for any reason, such as pictures are not permitted. Everyone must dismiss from the arena and parking lot in a swift and orderly fashion.
  • Seniors will exit immediately following the ceremony.
    Group 1 (sections 100 - 117 & 205 - 213) should dismiss next.
    Group 2 (sections 120 - 127 & 219 - 227) should dismiss last.
  • Families should spread out throughout the arena with social distancing in mind. Guests are not permitted on the ground level. Handicapped seating is permitted on the lower level. Graduates will have multiple pictures taken by a professional photographer and the event will be live-streamed. The link will be posted to the Graduation Update Website like will be updated here soon for those who cannot make it or choose to stay home.
  • If you are ill, have a temperature, or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, please stay home. Some examples of symptoms include: fever of 100.4 F or higher, chills, rigors, myalgia, headache, sore throat, lower respiratory illness.

Other Information: Stormont Vail Events Center

Permitted bags at the Stormont Vail Events Center include:
Bags and totes that are made of clear plastic and do not exceed 12” X 6” X 12”, OR
One-gallon clear resealable plastic storage bags, small clutch bags/purses (which are not required to be clear) OR
Diaper bags for small children and medical device bags (though these will be subject to inspection upon entrance to the facility)

All other bags (including but not limited to purses, backpacks, duffel bags) and/or containers (including but not limited to cans, plastic bottles, thermos, coolers, and/or hard-sided bags) are prohibited inside the venue.

All persons and items entering the Stormont Vail Events Center are subject to search and inspection via walk-through metal detector. A pat-down can be accommodated for persons carrying a pacemaker or implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD). Any Item that in the judgment of Events Center management poses a safety hazard or diminishes the enjoyment of an event by other patrons will not be allowed into the facility.

Students should enter Domer Arena here at 3:00. Bring your gown in hand prior to security wanding. Domer Arena is located on the Southwest side of the Stormont-Vail Events Center. Enter the Southeast entrance pictured here.

Commencement is not a requirement for graduation. If all obligations are taken care of. Diplomas may be picked up at SHS May 24th - May 28th from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Any outstanding fee balances may be taken care of in the front office any time prior to practice graduation/senior checkout.
