Message from the Superintendent

USD 345 Staff and Families:

It is with mixed emotions that I let you all know that I have submitted my intent to retire at the end of this school year to the board of education. I’ve been working in public education for 30 years and my family has been a part of this endearing Seaman community for the last six years. While we have had our challenges as a school community, we’ve also had our celebrations. I am extremely proud of our accomplishments and progress we’ve made and I look forward to seeing us continue to provide the best learning opportunities and experiences for each and every one of our students and families.

I am ready to work closely with the board of education to assist in the search for the next Superintendent of Seaman USD 345. While there are many superintendent openings across the state, I have no doubt the tradition of excellence at Seaman USD 345 and our great people will attract the best of the best.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to help lead this district and be a part of this community. My family and I will always remember our time here with the utmost joy and respect, and I remain committed to our students, staff, and families as we progress through the rest of this school year. Once a Viking, always a Viking!

Sincerely,

Dr. Noble
Dr. Steve Noble
Superintendent

Winter Weather

Snow Day
Winter weather season is here. Please remember the district's response to winter weather conditions that may affect school days.

Late Start
A late start schedule could enable the school district to have school after a two-hour delay. This would allow road crews and mother nature to help make it safe for students, staff, and families to travel to school. Late-start schedules will be determined by building principals.

Late Start School Hours
SMS 9:50 am - 3:00 pm
SHS 9:55 am - 3:05 pm
Elementary 10:50 am - 4:00 pm
MELC Preschool morning class 8:30 am - 11:30 am CANCELED
MELC Preschool afternoon class 12:45 pm - 3:45 pm
MELC Preschool full-day class 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Snow Days
A school day may be canceled due to winter weather conditions. When school days are canceled, all school activities and events are canceled for that day, including facility rentals. The first and second snow day will not be made up. The third and fourth snow days will be made up using our build in snow days. April 18 will be an in-session school day if there are three snow days used. April 15 will be an in-session school day if there are four snow days used.

Seaman Education Advantage Foundation 15th Annual State of the District Banquet

SEAFAfter a brief hiatus, we are pleased to announce the Seaman Education Advantage Foundation Banquet is back in 2022.

SEAF was organized 20 years ago to provide academic scholarships for students and classroom teacher mini-grants to the staff of USD 345. Providing additional financial assistance is vitally important to assure the success of achieving quality education.

Since its inception SEAF adopted the mission to assist, advance, promote, and enhance
education. Thanks to continued donations from businesses and organizations, SEAF is funding teacher mini-grants and student scholarships during the 2021-2022 school year.

15TH ANNUAL STATE OF THE DISTRICT BANQUET
Date: Thursday, February 24, 2022
Location: Seaman Middle School Commons, 5530 NW Topeka Blvd
Time: Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.

This year's event will feature a meal, dessert, the State of the District address by Superintendent Dr. Steve Noble, entertainment from Seaman students, and displays showcasing how scholarships and mini-grants have and are continuing to enhance, enrich, and expand students' learning opportunities, thanks to the support of the community. Scholarship and mini-grant winners will also be recognized during the night.

The SEAF Directors thank sponsors of the 2022 Banquet. Financial support will be used to fund future scholarships and mini-grants helping students continue their education and bringing projects to teachers’ classrooms. A summary of the levels of sponsorship and the benefit of being a sponsor is enclosed to help determine what level you might like to choose.

See Something, Say Something

Our See Something, Say Something reporting tool is now anonymous. This form allows you and others to submit secure, anonymous safety concerns to district officials. This reporting tool is continuously monitored by district staff. If you would like to receive follow-up correspondence you may leave your contact information as well. Reporting observed threats, behaviors, actions, and harassment help maintain a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.

After you provide as much information as you have about a safety or security concern, here are the next steps the district follows:

1. A district official reviews your information and replies to your tip if contact info is provided.
2. Your tip is forwarded to the proper administration to begin investigation.
3. You are contacted (if contact info is provided) to provide any follow-up info, if needed.
4. Administration follows through with the investigation and any action steps necessary.

Crime Stoppers is another reporting tool available to Shawnee County residents. Crime Stoppers encourages members of the community to assist local law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime by overcoming fear and apathy. They assist local law enforcement agencies by gathering information through the use of online and mobile tools and encourage community members to volunteer vital information that could lead to the battle against crime.

Call the Anonymous Tip Line at (785) 234-0007 or submit information through their Mobile Application. Tips that lead to a felony arrest are eligible for a cash reward.
