I would like to thank our high school community for their feedback and participation in this hiring process,” said Superintendent Dr. Steve Noble. “Parents, staff, and student groups helped us define areas of emphasis and even met with final candidates. Dr. Lyons is an educational leader who supports teachers in building instructional practices and understands the impact equity and campus culture can have on the academic performance of all students. She is committed to maximizing our achievements as we prepare our students for college and career success. We are excited to welcome Dr. Lyons to Seaman High School beginning next school year.”

Dr. Lyons will succeed Mike Monaghan. We thank Mr. Monaghan for his seven years of leadership, dedication, and hard work.

Dr. Lyons comes to Seaman High School from Topeka High School, where she has been an assistant principal for the previous four years. Prior to that, she spent 19 years working as a teacher, project coordinator and curriculum coordinator for Hope Street Academy in USD 501 and Youth Educational Services in Moorhead, Minnesota.

“I am so excited to be a Viking! I want to continue the fine work that students and their families have experienced at Seaman. I support the agency of the current student body and expect to foster greater understanding among all students by listening to their diverse voices,” said Dr. Lyons.
