Laptop Check-In InfoAs we begin to plan for next school year, we have made some changes to the way we will handle laptop check-in at the end of this school year.

Seniors (Class of 2020)
Seniors are required to return their laptops on Thursday, May 21 or Friday, May 22 from 12pm to 4pm. Technology staff will set up a drive-thru check-in station at the south entrance of Seaman High School. Please remove all personal belongings from your laptop case, power off your laptop, and drive up to the south entrance. A staff member will approach your vehicle and ask your name. Please hand your laptop and charger in the case through your vehicle window. Social distancing will be practiced and staff will follow sanitation protocols.

Seniors should also plan on dropping off calculators that they have checked out.

After laptops are returned, continue east through the parking lot where Afterglow folks will be set up to hand out t-shirts and gift bags. Social distancing will be practiced and our volunteers will follow sanitation protocols.

National Honor Society will also have a station set up to accept payment ($20) for graduation stoles. Please provide cash or check (payable to Seaman NHS) in a sealed envelope, marked “NHS - (Student Name)”

7th - 11th Graders
Current 7th through 11th graders will keep their laptops during the summer months and begin the 2020-21 school year with the same laptop. This change in practice will allow us to reduce the gatherings associated with the check-in process in order to keep students, families, and staff safe. This will also allow us to be prepared if the start of the 2020-21 school year is affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Families with Borrowed Laptops
If your family borrowed a district owned laptop during the continuous learning period, we ask that you keep that laptop during the summer months. We will be in contact with you once we have more information on when laptop check-ins can occur next school year.

Transferring Students
If your student has been issued a district laptop, and is planning to transfer to another school either this school year or next, please let your principal know as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for laptop check-in. Per the loan agreement, “Upon exiting the district, the student will be responsible for the full value of the computer if it is not returned upon checkout.”

The changes being made for this year’s laptop check-in have been modified to help keep students, families, and staff safe and healthy during the coronavirus pandemic. It will also allow the district, students, and families to be prepared, should the start of the 2020-21 school year be affected by additional building closures.

With the extended laptop loan time during summer months, please help us keep laptops in optimal condition by following the terms of the acceptable use agreement and the loan agreement. Any questions regarding district devices can be sent to the USD 345 Technology Department by calling 785-286-8483 Monday-Friday between 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.
